As a CSA member, you are a shareholder in a local farm, sharing in both the risk and the reward. CSA membership allows you to forge a connection with your food and the farm where it’s produced. Your investment is used towards seed and labor that results in your harvest. As such, the Wayward Seed Farm CSA membership is a season-long commitment. It is your responsibility to choose (and commit to memory) the date, time and location for pickup of your share. The farm does not replace or issue credit for unclaimed or forgotten shares. If you are unable to finish the season as a member, for whatever reason, you are welcome to reassign your share to another household.
1. What will be in my CSA share each week?
Your share is comprised of fruits and vegetables that are harvested within 48 hours of delivery. You will receive 9-11 items in your share each week, with an average of 8-9 vegetables and 1-2 fruits. For more information on our CSA program, click here.
2. Can I split the CSA share with someone if it’s too much food?
Of course! We encourage our shareholders to consider splitting a share by alternating pickup weeks with another shareholder. If you find yourself without a sharing partner, we are happy to facilitate those connections by encouraging you to post your request on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/waywardseed. If Facebook isn’t your thing, we are happy to assist you in finding a parter via email or phone, just visit the contact page of our website for more information.
3. What if I’m not sure how to prepare or store the items in my share?
At Wayward Seed, our level of service doesn’t stop once you’ve received your share. Whether you’re a seasoned cook or a self starter, we’re committed to answering your questions and offering support. Each week, you’ll receive recipes offering ideas and inspiration for preparing your produce.
Not a paper person? We have an extensive list of recipes here on our website, as well as on our Facebook page. We also encourage our shareholders to submit and share their own ideas as well. See the products section of our website for a current list of products and recipes.
4. What if I receive a vegetable that I don’t like?
While we’d like to think you’ll like everything we offer you, we know better than that. When you come to pick up your share, we’ll have a basket where you can deposit a fruit or vegetable that you either don’t like or have an allergy to, and take something else left by another shareholder. While we can’t guarantee you’ll find something you’ll like, the chances are pretty good.
5. If I am going to be out of town or unable to get my share, can I change it?
If your schedule changes at the last minute, you can always send someone in your place. You can also check the delivery schedule for the day, and plan to pick up from the truck at another delivery location before or after your scheduled time.
If you know in advance that you can’t make that week’s delivery, you can also change your pick up date or even put your share on hold through our online ordering and account management system.
6. What if I forget to pick up my share at the last minute?
Please commit your pickup day, time and location to memory as we are unable to replace unclaimed or forgotten shares. We do our best to allow delivery changes with 48 hours’ notice, but once your share is out for delivery it cannot be stored or replaced.
